I’m on vacation and have not been able to find time to write, but want to keep this blog from becoming too stale. I have been working, and this is one of the new birthday party invitations created in the BlueHyd store. The hydrangea is a photo of my Endless Summer bloom from last year. I’ve been away from my yard for a couple of weeks and when I return I hope to see many buds on my hydrangeas. I count on them to get more photos to use over the winter when I am creating stationery and products. A big reason I love hydrangeas is the long living flowers.
This pretty, light blue flower pairs well with the dark wood background. The rustic look is quite popular and I hope to sell bunches of party invitations. With the customization option, this invitation can be used for almost any type of event. My sample text is for a woman who is turning 30, but it could serve as a wedding announcement, vow renewal invitation or even a thank you card.

I use my own images of the hydrangea flowers I grow to create wedding stationery including wedding invitations. I begin with the invitation design (usually) and make matching RSVP cards and other enclosures, thank you cards, postage and stickers from that design.
My store, BlueHyd, is set up at the Zazzle site, along with many other designers who also compete for your attention for wedding stationery and more. The competition, not only on the site, but all over the internet, is tight and the copying of designs is apparent everywhere. We all want to make something that is popular with brides – be it flowers, themes, or colors. And those trends tend to change rapidly.
I began my BlueHyd store so I could feature the hydrangea flower only on paper. I hadn’t seen many sets of wedding stationery with a pretty, realistic flower featured as the central theme and I wanted to offer brides the option to include it.
Without new hydrangea flowers in the yard yet, I must put off creating with new floral images, but I am still staying busy designing for weddings.
This wedding program template, without the burlap background, has been one of my best sellers at BlueHyd. Since burlap has become the next great thing that brides are looking for in the way of country themes, I went to work designing a burlap-look background. I honestly couldn’t tell you what steps I took to complete this image (there were a lot of them!) but I think it has turned out nicely.
One of the items I added it to was this popular wedding program. Now the double-sided paper has a burlap background and the tan color matches the lavender quite well. Any couple having a country wedding with hydrangeas involved, will hopefully consider this Burlap & Lavender paper for their ceremony program.
Use a beautiful program cover for self-printed wedding programs. Many couples choose to create their own wedding ceremony programs, but lack a useful image to decorate the cover. At BlueHyd we make program templates and also program covers. They will be folded after purchase to decorate any letterhead (8.5 x 11) size paper.
Hydrangeas are very popular flowers when it comes to decorating for weddings, and we’ve made some pretty paper with template text that is selling quite well. This cover, with a big, blue flower has a large monogram – single initial – in black, at the top of the front page.
All text is easy to personalize with bride’s and groom’s names, place of ceremony, and wedding date. Or delete all the text and print it yourself. In fact, each design element is easy to remove – the silver gray background can be deleted for a white paper cover, and the blue border and hydrangea flower can also be removed.
